retrofest.uk is coming exciting! This is going to be a fantastic event! I put my name forward to exhibit, but was what to take? I took the decision to set a target and get an Asteroids Deluxe Cabaret arcade cabinet into shape and take that, no pressure eh?
I’ve had it a few years and is well overdue some TLC.
Generally it’s working but the cabinet needs a tidy and the control panel is scruffy.
Pick and easy job to start with, change the worn out speaker, the foam on the original is completely shot. Foam can be replaced if you can find one that fits but it’s easier to replace the whole thing. Took a bit of shopping around to find one suitable, the main source of 6×9″ speakers is the car audio market but most of them are a bit too fancy for an 1981 arcade cabinet. But the website that has everything Aliexpress came up with the goods and you can buy them individually!
That was an easy win, other parts aren’t going to be so straight forward.
